COVID info
Lotus is ready to get back on the water!
The Lotus Sports Club is committed to keeping the health and safety of members as the top priority. The Board of Directors has worked hard to develop a plan to ensure a responsible and safe opening for all members; this Safety Plan is consistent with guidelines of ViaSport BC, BC Recreation and Parks Association, CORA, BC Center for Disease Control, WorkSafe BC, and Health Canada, and has been approved by the City of Burnaby. Please read through the Safety Plan to see the protocols and policies that have been put into place; members will see changes in the way that the club operates during the re-opening phase.
There will be many explanatory signs posted at the clubhouse and more details in the Safety Plan; it will take time initially to get used to following the additional steps, so please be patient as we know how anxious everyone is to start paddling again.
Waivers:
Membership fees do not need to be paid on the first day but membership forms and waivers must be completed (no exceptions). All paddlers are asked to please print and fill out all parts of the 2020 Lotus Membership Form and Adult Waiver at home to limit handling of pens, paper and tables at the clubhouse; this paperwork should be placed in an envelope clearly marked with the date and deposited in the drop box at the clubhouse. Alternately, the signed, witnessed and scanned waiver, Membership Registration and Participant Profile can be emailed to Ken at kasano@telus.net
Before going out on the water, all paddlers must have paid their 2020 CORA membership
Activity Type for Re-Opening:
All paddlers will be on SUPs or OC1s (the exception is that household members can paddle together on an OC2). For reasons of safety, new paddler training, races, crew boats (OC6), and drop-in participants will not be reinstated at this time.
Paddlers must complete their annual small boat certification including demonstrating the ability to self-rescue (be able to successfully remount a small boat after a huli or capsize).
On-Line Sign-Up:
An online sign-up for paddling time slots will be used by both private boat and club boat users for purposes of contact tracing but will also coordinate booking of the club’s small boats. A link will be emailed to all members but can also be accessed through the forum.
Welcome back, Lotus paddlers!
